About me
I started practising Pilates in 2006, as a way to relax, build inner strength and look after my back. As well as the all-round benefits, what I really liked was gaining more body awareness and an understanding of correct alignment and efficient movement; which will avoid unnecessary wear and tear, and keep pain at bay. This is particularly important to me as I have a scoliosis, and had spinal surgery in 1995 to insert metal rods to back of my spine.
Having made Pilates part of my lifestyle, in 2011 I decided to pass on the benefits of Pilates to others, and started training as a Body Control Pilates® Teacher, qualifying as a Level 3 Matwork teacher in June 2012.
I am currently a member of the Body Control Pilates Association as a Level 4 Pilates Instructor. I am committed to on-going professional development. I have attained:
- a Level 3 accreditation in ante-natal and postnatal exercise programming so I can work with clients who are pregnant or postnatal;
- a Level 3 certificate in designing Pilates programmes for Bone health so I am qualified to teach clients with Osteopenia and Osteoporosis;
- a level 3 certificate in Pilates and Health Considerations for the Older Adult.
I have also gained a Level 4 Pilates qualification with Body Control Pilates® to equip me with more skills in designing prescriptive exercise programmes suited to individual needs.
